Time Control: The Basics
Time Control is a board game of tactics and strategy for 2 - 4 players, ages 12 and older. A typical game lasts 45 minutes to an hour.
Each player control a Timeline representing their pasts, 12 Time Agents, and 22 Time Control tokens. Players send their Agents into their pasts and then invade their opponent's timeline. The goal is to disrupt the past and create Time Waves. Time Waves represent a re-ordering of reality started by past alterations. These effects move forward through time, gaining in negative force. When Time Waves reach today, they explode and leave the player with problems. Players may have their Time Agents create Time Waves, intercept existing Time Waves, or attack opposing Time Agents. When Time Agents duel, players simultaneously reveal Time Control tokens; highest token wins, but the loser may demand a re-duel in an attempt to smoke out am opponents high-valued token. Players may also duel with the Fate Deck, which doesn't deplete their Time Control tokens, but is less powerful. Although there is the all-powerful FATE Card… After a duel, winners and losers consult the Fate Deck to learn the fate of their Time Agents…
Players must also somehow deal with their accumulating problems. Each problem causes a serious detriment to how well a player may play the game; making Agents less effective, making Time Waves more harmful, etc. In addition, a player who accumulates too many of the wrong kind of problem loses the game!
Players may divest themselves of problems either by having Time Agents creating specific Time Waves to solve problems, or by buying the problems off. But be careful; Time Waves can always turn nasty, and Problems can only be bought off by discarding valuable Time Control tokens…or sacrificing your own Time Agents!
